The Layout
Designed by James Harrison, ASGCA, and opened in 1961, Highland Springs has matured into a routing that rewards placement over power — narrow chutes through mature hardwoods, a handful of genuine risk-reward par 5s, and greens that putt true all summer.

Three Generations
Highland Springs opens, designed by James Harrison, ASGCA — 18 holes carved into the hills above Wellsburg.
Vaughn Hone Sr. and Mark Hone purchase the course and begin a full renovation, restoring it to championship condition.
Marshall Hone — son of Mark and Lauren, grandson of Vaughn — takes over daily golf operations, the third generation to run Highland Springs.
Still one of the best-value rounds in the Ohio Valley, eleven miles from Wheeling and a short drive from Pittsburgh.
